Our Method

Korean Beauty Report is an independent consumer publication covering Korean beauty supplements and skincare for the US market. This page sets out exactly how we work, so you can judge whether our reporting is worth your time.

What we check, every time

• The full label. Every active ingredient, with its amount and its chemical form. If a product hides its formula behind a blend name, we say so and that is usually where the report ends.
• The count and the serving. How many units are in the bottle and how many you take per day. Those two numbers produce the cost per day, which is the only price comparison that means anything.
• The source behind each nutrient. We name the source in the text: the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheets, and peer-reviewed work identified by author, journal and PubMed number so you can look it up yourself.
• The seller's own checkout page. Not the landing page. Headline discounts and the amount a cart actually charges disagree more often than they agree, and the checkout is the only figure that counts.
• The refund window, in days. Stated as a number with its conditions visible, or it does not count as a guarantee.

What we will not publish

• A star rating without volume behind it. Our floor is at least 30 independent reports across two or more sources. Below that, we publish the label checks and no score. A rating built on three reviews looks authoritative and carries no information.
• Invented people. No fabricated reviewer, no stock photo presented as a reader, no testimonial we did not receive.
• Before-and-after photos as evidence. Lighting, angle and makeup explain more of those images than any ingredient does.
• Struck-through prices we cannot verify. A reference price the product never sold at is not a discount.
• Medical claims. We write about what a nutrient does in the body, sourced and named. We do not tell you what a product will do to you, because we cannot know that and neither can the seller.

Who writes this

Reports are written and checked by the Korean Beauty Report desk. We are a small independent team covering this category for readers in the United States. We do not accept payment for coverage, we do not let a commission decide which products get named, and we publish the checks we ran so you can disagree with our conclusion using the same information we had.

We have not clinically tested any product, and no consumer publication has. What we do is read what the seller publishes, compare it against named scientific sources, verify the commercial terms at the checkout, and report the gaps. Where a product falls short, we say so. Where a claim does not survive the ingredient panel, we say that too.

How we make money

Through affiliate commissions. When a reader buys a product through a link on this site, the seller pays us a percentage, and the reader pays exactly the same price they would have paid otherwise.

That arrangement is common and it creates an obvious pressure, so here is our answer to it: commissions never decide what we publish. The label checks on this site are the same checks we would run if nobody paid us anything, and products fail them regularly. The full statement is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Corrections

If you find something wrong here, tell us and we will fix it and date the change. Formulas get reformulated, prices move and refund terms change. Write to lzb.drmkt@gmail.com and we will look at it.
